Why this mudslinging?

Last Eid-ul-Fitr, Dhaliwood signaled a turnaround with Galui and Shan films. Paran released on Eid-ul-Azha has created a response among the audience. When Hawa is released three weeks after Eid, there is more interest among the audience. While many people associated with the cinema are specializing this interest of the audience in Bengali cinema with various adjectives including 'new tide', 'turning around of Dhaliwood', on the other hand, mud-slinging has started among the film people. Counter accusations, personal attacks against each other are going on. Video footage of this is spreading on social media. Many fans and viewers are making negative comments under these videos. Many people say that this mud-slinging can hinder the turnaround of Bengali cinema.

Film director and analyst Matin Rahman said, 'Those who are doing this work should be restrained. When a message of success spreads, some failures have to be suppressed. By not doing that, we are damaging the cinema.'

Under a video footage of Anant Jalil's statement against Misha Saudagar in a Facebook group, one named Russell Hossain wrote, 'Why are artists like this? I have seen such a situation during the election of artists association. It has started again. We go to the hall to watch the movies of these artists. However, the audience would not have believed if they had not seen so much rivalry and conflict between them. Due to these reasons, our movie has been delayed.

A few days ago, the villain Misha Saudagar and the hero Bappi Chowdhury of the film Dhakai came face to face outside the screen. The incident started with a radio interview by Bappi. There he called Misha Saudagar an 'opportunist'. Later, Misha gave a counter statement to the media by insulting Bappi's acting career. It doesn't end here, after a few days the viewers have to watch Misha vs. Anant episode too. While giving an interview to a TV channel, Misha commented on Anantara Din The Day. He said, 'Anant Jalil's film industry did not get any benefit from Din The Day, made with hundreds of crores of rupees. Making at least half a hundred movies a year with this money would change the face of the industry. Anant does movies as a hobby. There is no benefit for the industry.' As usual, the counter statement comes from the other side.

Anant counterattacked Misha in a press conference, 'Misha Saudagar is an artist. In fact, he has no contribution to the development of the film. Misha Saudagar is neither a producer nor a creative person. It does not improve the movie. How will the film improve if there is no investment, no creativity?'

Who knew that Misha and Anant Jalil's duel is not the end! After that the whole team of Aashirvad movie appeared with a bigger controversy for the audience. The director, hero and heroine went face to face with the producer of the film. The brick was shot by producer Jennifer Ferdous. Actors Roshan and Mahiya appeared at the press conference on the occasion of the film's release without Mahi. There he accused Roshan and Mahi. Said, 'Will I invest money to promote heroes and heroines?' Why should Roshan and Mahi be silent? They said that the producer is busy with his promotion from the day of signing the contract. He has ruined the quality of the movie by saving money on the shooting to get the grant money. Not only that, Roshan and Mahi complained about releasing the movie without shooting a single song.

Later, the producer threatened a lawsuit against the director, hero and heroine by holding a press conference. After that statement, Mahi applied to the artists' association for justice. The new film is releasing almost a month after the release of Hawa on July 29. But as things stand, the quarrel between the producers and the couple of the film is now a bigger news than the film itself. In this context, former president of Bangladesh Film Directors Association Mushfiqur Rahman said, 'We are making ourselves short. If there is a problem, you can solve it yourself. Why do outsiders know? But what is happening, going to the media and saying against each other. These statements are spreading on social media. What do ordinary people think? We are becoming inferior to the society. Seeing such an environment, why would the audience come to see our movie?'

Director Kazi Hayat also expressed his displeasure with the recent activities of film people, 'people have started going to the halls to watch movies. And we are fighting. If this happens, the audience will get the wrong message. There will be an impact on the movie.'

Raihan Rafi, the director of Paraan also agreed with Kazi Hayat, 'The movie is doing well after a long time. At the same time some people in the movie are speaking offensive language against each other. We are being laughed at. Our movie is still in operation theater. Two films going well doesn't mean everything. The new viewers who are coming to see Hawa and Paraan will change their opinion if they see the behavior of the people in the movie. They will turn away.'

Misha Saudagar himself also agrees about the negative impact of the recent events on the cinema. He said, 'Speech, counter-speech footage is floating on Facebook, YouTube. What do people learn from the artists? Such behavior of artists may discourage the audience from watching the movie.'
